Perfection is Overrated—Progress Is Where the Magic Happens ✨

What I Would Have Missed If I Waited for “Perfect”

Perfection is sneaky—it convinces us to wait until we have everything figured out before taking action. But here’s the truth: waiting for the perfect moment is just another form of procrastination.

If I had let perfectionism hold me back, I would have missed out on some of the biggest, most life-changing experiences:

  • Becoming a Mom – I had Aiden at 32, and even then, I didn’t feel "ready." Spoiler: I still don’t feel ready half the time. But in my opinion, there’s never a "perfect" time to become a parent—just the right time for you.

  • Starting My Business as a Life Coach – I created an LLC, and guess what? I still don’t know what I’m doing half the time. But I’m figuring it out as I go, and that’s what matters.

  • Launching My Blog – Was my first blog post award-winning? Probably not. But I hit publish anyway, and thatis how you build momentum.

  • Posting on Social Media – My posts? FAR from perfect. (Did I mention I don’t know what I’m doing?) But I don’t want to be an influencer—I just want to spread sunshine and help people.

  • Leaving a Toxic Job – Best. Decision. Ever. I finally chose me over a job that could care less about me. And let me tell you, choosing yourself is never the wrong move.

The Truth About Perfectionism

Here’s what I’ve learned: perfection isn’t the goal—progress is. Waiting until you have all the answers, all the confidence, or all the skills? That’s a recipe for staying stuck.

Perfection tells you: "You’re not ready. Wait until you have it all figured out."
Progress says: "Start where you are. Figure it out as you go."

I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve started working out, stopped, and then struggled to start again—because the hardest part is admitting, “Yes, I’m out of shape, but in a week, I’ll be better than I am today.”

Or maybe you’ve been there too—sitting in your car before work, dreading another day in a toxic job, telling yourself, “Maybe today will be better… maybe I’ll find the perfect job and apply today.” But days turn into weeks, and weeks into months, and nothing changes.

I get it. Starting something new is scary. I’ve been there, more than once. But here’s the truth:

👉 "What you don’t change, you ARE choosing."

How to Start Before You’re Ready

If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to take action, here’s your permission slip: just start.

No need to wait until Monday. No need to wait for the full moon. No need to wait, period. 🚀

Here’s how to move forward right now:

🔹 Lower the bar. If you’re struggling with fear of failure or feeling like you need to be an expert before you begin—let that go. Start where you are. Every expert started as a beginner.

🔹 Take messy action. The first version of anything is usually not great—but it’s a starting point. My blog posts? Far from winning any awards. But here I am, showing up every week.

It took me five years to write my book, but I started—and I finished. I hesitated to start this newsletter, thinking only two people would subscribe. But guess what? Even if I helped just two people, that would have been enough.

(Also, spoiler alert: I didn’t get just two. I got EIGHT before I even promoted it.)

🔹 Remember your “why.” Perfection is about fear. Progress is about purpose. If you struggle with overcoming perfectionism, focus on why you’re doing it. I go deep into this in my book—because finding your purpose? That’s the game-changer.

Your Turn: What’s One Thing You’ve Been Waiting to Start?

I want to hear from you! What’s one thing you’ve been putting off because you’re waiting for the “perfect” time? Hit reply and tell me—or better yet, go take one small step right now.
