A Vision Without a Written Goal is Just a Fleeting Dream ✨

Create a vision that makes you wanna jump out of bed in the morning!

My favorite Disney princess once said, “A dream is a wish your heart makes.” But what if your dreams didn’t have to stay dreams? What if you could actually make them happen? Enter: Vision Boards. 🖼️✨

Creating a vision board is hands-down my favorite way to kick off a new year. It helps me organize my goals, stay motivated, and get ready to crush the year ahead. Plus, there’s actual science to back it up—so it’s not just “woo woo” or wishful thinking. Vision boards tap into a cognitive process known as “value tagging.” This process allows your brain to identify and prioritize important information—like the images and goals on your board—by imprinting them onto your subconscious. 🧠

Think about it: why do we keep pictures of loved ones on our desks, or hang diplomas and certificates on our walls? These visual cues constantly remind us of what matters most, motivating us to stay on track. Your vision board works the same way, but instead of just looking back at past achievements, it propels you toward future ones.

Why Vision Boards Work

Creating a vision board is just the first step. To make it truly effective, you need to place it somewhere you’ll see it every day. I had my house vision board right in front of me every single day since June 2024. Every time I saw something I wanted for our forever home, I added it to the board. Nothing fancy—my creative juices were definitely running low this year—but it worked. We’re now living in our brand-new house, about to celebrate our first Christmas. 🎄🏡

The key? Consistency and visibility. Your vision board isn’t just an arts-and-crafts project; it’s a powerful tool to keep your goals front and center.

How to Create Your Vision Board 🖍️📌

1.Divide Your Board into 2, 3, or 4 Quadrants:
Focus on no more than four key areas of your life that matter most to you. For example, this past year, mine included:

  • Buying our forever home 🏡

  • Six months to zero debt 💸

  • Healthy habits 🏋️‍♀️

  • Growing my life coach business 💼

2. Materials Need

4 pack poster board with my favorite colors. Glue sticks because I didn’t have any. Total of $5 plus tax.

Don’t go crazy buying things, you can get perfectly great poster board, construction paper, and other fun items at a dollar store near you. I’ll even ask my local nail salon, hair salon, or doctor’s office for any old magazines they’d like to part with.

If you are techy you can use things like Canva, Vision Board apps of your choosing, and tap into Pinterest for ideas. This is cool and all, but I need to have things in my face to really manifest them so I will print out anything I create on Canva, but that’s just me. I like to disconnect myself from my phone and laptop and won’t see my board for days on end sometimes.

For the upcoming year, I’ll be narrowing my focus even more, doubling down on two of these quadrants. Remember, you don’t have to tackle everything at once—some goals will take longer, and that’s okay.

Tips for a Successful Vision Board 🌟

  • Have FUN! Don’t over think this, just have fun with it. Remember, leave space to add things that pop up on your journey to manifesting. I like to remove things off my vision board and/or cover it up if things change or need to be tweaked.

  • Meditate🧘‍♀️ /Pray 🙏 : clear your mind and ground yourself before you start the vision borad, really set those intentions for a positive experience.

  • Music 🎶 and Candles 🕯️ : Set your space with music you love and I like to light some candles and incense (that’s the only witchy woo-woo thing happening). A white candle to cleanse and protect my space. Make it extra witchy by saging with palo santo.

  • Be Realistic 🤩: Goals like getting out of debt, completing a degree or certificate program, writing a book, or losing weight (just to name a few) often come with timelines, so set achievable milestones to keep yourself on track.

  • Make It Personal: Use images, quotes, and affirmations that resonate deeply with you. This isn’t about impressing anyone else—it’s about creating a board that inspires you. Fact: I used to be embarrassed about my vision boards, putting them up in the house. I was always thinking “everyone is going to think this is dumb!” yeah I was limiting myself and minimized my goals because of what I thought others thought. Jokes on me, right. You’d be surprised who you’re motivating with your Vision board.

  • Stay Flexible 💪 : Life happens. If something on your vision board doesn’t pan out as planned, adjust and refocus. Progress is the goal, not perfection. It took us 5  years of hard work, a pandemic,  life being lifey before we found our forever home 🏠 . Don’t give up and stay resilient.

My Challenge to You 🎯

This year, take some time to dream big and put those dreams down on a vision board. Think of it as a blueprint for the life you want to build. Then, hang it somewhere you’ll see it every day—on your fridge, by your desk, or even as your phone wallpaper (I do all of the above).
